ASA’s First Regional Meeting Held in Shenzhen, China

Last week ASA held its first ever regional Asian Affiliate & Instructors meeting in Shenzhen, China.  Over two dozen ASA Instructors and Affiliate representatives attended representing ASA sailing schools across mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

A representative from each school made a brief presentation about its program and facilities then discussed how to handle the challenges specific to the China market.  Some of these include how to obtain special permits in order to sail at night for a bareboat chartering course, how to take payments from customers who lack Western credit cards and what ASA materials require translation into Mandarin immediately to assure success in the rapidly developing China sailing marketplace.
